Cooperation Holds Conference in Baku
The Committee on Economic, Trade,
Technological and Ecological Affairs, Parliamentary Assembly
of Black Sea Cooperation (PABSEC), started 20-th conference in
Baku, March 11, Trend news agency reported.

Opening the conference, Ziafet Askerov, Milli Majlis
(Azeri Parliament) Vice-Speaker, stressed cooperation between
Azerbaijan and BSEC gathers in momentum. Azerbaijan
participates in many regional economic projects, including
Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan and Baku-Tbilisi-Erzerum
pipelines.
The vice-speaker said their implementation
will allow to improve economic situation in the region.
Ali Alirzaev, the member of Committee, Azeri
arliamentarian, presented a report "Cooperation among BSEC's
member-nations in power engineering".
He stressed
BSEC's member-nations inefficiently use their energy
resources. So, under acquisition of energy, 2040 mwt/h comes
per head in Azerbaijan and it is 1.8 times lower than in
Bulgaria, 2.2 times than in Greece and 2.5 times than in
Russia and 1.3 times than in Ukraine. On average, 3606 kwt/h
comes per head in the member-nations.
A.Alirzaev said
member-nations are ensured with gas thanks to supplies from
Russia, Norway and Iran. So, Russia provides Bulgaria with gas
by 100%, Greece - 80%. Georgia is provided with gas thanks to
transit of Azeri and Kazakh gas through its territory.
The agenda includes consideration on draft
recommendating provision "Cooperation in power engineering",
cooperation among member-nations in power engineering,
creation of Sub-Committee on Information Technologies,
appointment of the spokesman of Committee in PABSEC General
Assembly. Moreover, ageda includes affirmation of the protocol
of the 19-th conference of the Committee, held on September
12-12, 2002, in Kichinev, capital of Moldova.
The
conference will end on March 12. The representatives of
Armenia don't participate in the Baku forum.
