VLADIMIR PUTIN URGED MEMBERS OF THE SHANGHAI COOPERATION ORGANIZATION TO COOPERATE IN THE STRUGGLE AGAINST TRANS-BORDER CRIMINALITY

On Friday Russian President Vladimir Putin stated at the SCO summit meeting in Saint Petersburg that it was necessary for countries-members of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization to establish practical cooperation in the struggle against illegal drugs trafficking, illegal arms trade and other types of trans-border criminality.

According to him, it should become the objective of the Bishkek group which would be composed of representatives of special and frontier services of SCO countries.

In addition to that the Russian President indicated that the parties should intensify measures to implement the Convention on the struggle against separatism, terrorism and extremism, which was signed in June last year by SCO leaders.

The Russian leader gave a positive appraisal to cooperation between SCO countries on matters of defense ministries, frontier services and departments engaged in settlement of emergency situations.
